Set in a remote desert mining town in Nevada, the film kicks off when a series of mysterious seismic tremors begin disrupting life for the local community. It doesn't take long before the true culprits reveal themselves—Graboids, the subterranean creatures with massive jaws and unparalleled predatory instincts. However, unlike previous incarnations, these monsters have mutated. Faster, smarter, and deadlier, they’ve adapted to human tactics, making survival more difficult than ever.

The torch is passed to Emma Callahan (played by rising star Mackenzie Porter), a geologist who teams up with Burt Gummer’s estranged son, Jake Gummer (Luke Grimes), to face the monstrous resurgence. The dynamic between Emma and Jake is tense yet compelling, combining intellect with inherited bravado. Fans will be pleased to see a few nostalgic nods to past characters, with archival footage and surprise cameos, paying homage to the franchise's roots.

Eli Warren’s direction strikes a balance between suspense and explosive action. The desert setting is used effectively, with wide-angle shots capturing the isolation and vulnerability of the characters. The Graboids themselves are brought to life with a mix of practical effects and CGI, successfully retaining their grotesque charm while upgrading their menace for a new generation.

Tremors (2025) smartly integrates environmental themes, hinting at how climate change and human encroachment have contributed to the monsters’ evolution and aggression. Despite these modern touches, the movie doesn’t lose its campy tone—humor and horror go hand-in-hand, just like in the original 1990 film.

While some may find the plot formulaic and certain character arcs underdeveloped, Tremors (2025) delivers what fans expect: monstrous mayhem, B-movie fun, and a surprisingly heartfelt sense of legacy. It’s a worthy entry in a beloved franchise and a sign that even after decades underground, the Graboids still have plenty of bite.
