The Terminal List (2022)

The Terminal List | Official Trailer | Prime Video

After the brutal, unrelenting manhunt of The Terminal List (2022), former Navy SEAL James Reece seemed to have finally closed the chapter on his blood-soaked revenge. But peace doesn’t last long in the shadowy world Reece inhabits. In the gripping sequel, The Terminal List: Vengeance Protocol (2025), Chris Pratt returns in a darker, leaner, and more psychologically nuanced performance—taking audiences even deeper into the moral ambiguity of war, loyalty, and redemption.

Set two years after the events of the first series, Reece is hiding in South America, living a quiet life off-grid. But when a former SEAL teammate is assassinated under mysterious circumstances, Reece is drawn back into a world of covert black-ops, misinformation, and a dangerous new enemy. This time, the threat isn’t personal—it’s systemic. A clandestine international program known as Protocol Vengeance has been targeting ex-military operatives like Reece himself, framing them for crimes they didn’t commit in order to silence them permanently.

Unlike the original, which was tightly focused on Reece’s internal struggle and singular mission of revenge, the sequel expands its scope. It takes on geopolitical tensions, cyber warfare, and even questions about the use of AI in battlefield targeting decisions. Yet, at its core, it’s still Reece’s story—only this time, he’s not just avenging the past. He’s fighting for his future and the legacy of those who stood beside him.

Director Antoine Fuqua returns with a heavier, more grounded visual tone—eschewing some of the stylized violence of the first for a rawer, more documentary-like approach. Close combat sequences are brutal and realistic, and the pacing is tighter, making every scene count.

Supporting performances from Taylor Kitsch (as Ben Edwards, in flashback form) and Ruth Negga (as a relentless Interpol agent with secrets of her own) add dramatic depth. The story builds toward a haunting climax set in a rain-swept Tokyo high-rise—where truth and vengeance finally meet.

Though some may criticize the sequel’s slower, more reflective pacing, it’s a bold choice that pays off emotionally. Vengeance Protocol doesn’t just ask what a soldier can do—it asks what kind of man he becomes when the war refuses to end.
