Rampage 3 (2026)

Rampage 3 (2026) charges into theaters with even more explosive monster battles, massive destruction, and the return of fan-favorite creatures—but this time, it brings along something unexpected: emotional stakes. Directed once again by Brad Peyton, and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, this third installment amps up everything that made the series a box-office success, while adding new layers to the bond between man and monster.

Rampage: Big Meets Bigger - Pathé Thuis

The film picks up five years after the events of Rampage: New World Order (2023). George, the genetically enhanced albino gorilla, has been living peacefully in a remote sanctuary. But when a rogue biotech corporation unleashes a new generation of hybrid kaiju, evolved through alien DNA discovered in a crashed meteorite, Earth once again becomes a battleground. It’s up to Davis Okoye (Johnson) and his primate companion to reunite and save the planet—this time, with help from unlikely allies.

New monsters like a cybernetic sea-serpent named Leviacrash and a flying chimera-bat called Vanta bring thrilling variety to the action scenes. The CGI is jaw-dropping, with cities like Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro serving as breathtaking backdrops for the carnage. The fight choreography between the beasts is more fluid and creative than ever before, offering edge-of-your-seat set pieces worthy of a summer blockbuster.

Dwayne Johnson proves, once again, that he’s the king of the action genre. His chemistry with George—the film’s emotional core—remains one of the franchise’s biggest strengths. Their bond feels more developed this time, with moments of humor, trust, and even sacrifice that add heart to the chaos. Newcomer Ana de Armas, playing a rogue ex-scientist with a personal vendetta, brings sharp wit and gravitas to the cast.

The film also benefits from a tighter script and a more focused narrative. While previous entries leaned heavily on destruction, Rampage 3 explores themes of loyalty, environmental consequences, and scientific hubris. The villains are more complex, and the stakes feel global without losing sight of personal conflict.

That said, it’s not without flaws. Some exposition-heavy scenes drag, and a few side characters feel underused. Fans expecting wall-to-wall monster fighting may find the mid-section too dialogue-driven. But these moments are balanced by a thrilling third act that culminates in a visually stunning showdown in the Amazon Rainforest.

Rampage 3 is the best entry in the franchise so far—bigger, smarter, and surprisingly emotional. With thrilling monster fights, improved storytelling, and Dwayne Johnson’s charisma leading the way, it cements itself as a must-watch popcorn spectacle for 2026.
