Netflix’s highly anticipated One Piece Live-Action Season 2 has officially wrapped filming and is now fully written and deep in post-production. After the enormous global success of Season 1, which brought Eiichiro Oda’s beloved pirate world to life in spectacular form, Season 2 promises even greater challenges, new characters, and a bold step into the heart of the Grand Line.
Season 2 will continue the journey of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates, exploring the arcs from Loguetown to Drum Island. This includes fan-favorite storylines such as the encounter with Smoker, the bizarre lands of Whiskey Peak and Little Garden, and most importantly, the emotional debut of Tony Tony Chopper—the reindeer doctor with a heartbreaking past and a pure heart. New villains, epic showdowns, and deeper lore are all part of the adventure.
Filming for Season 2 took place from June to December 2024. The production team has since shifted focus to post-production, especially for the heavy CGI work required to bring Chopper and other fantastical elements to life. The season will introduce several new characters, including Dr. Kureha, Wapol, and a broader range of pirate factions and Marines that shape the world of One Piece.
While fans initially hoped for a 2025 release, Netflix has confirmed that Season 2 will premiere in 2026 to allow time for high-quality visual effects and final editing. The creators are determined to preserve the heart, humor, and action that made the first season a hit while taking the scale and spectacle to the next level.
Behind the scenes, Joe Tracz now leads the showrunning responsibilities following the departure of Matt Owens. The creative team continues to work closely with Eiichiro Oda to ensure authenticity and respect for the source material.
