Set two years after the explosive events of the first film, Hobbs & Shaw 2 opens with a mysterious international attack on several covert military labs. The culprit? A new cyber-terrorist syndicate called Black Cortex, led by a brilliant yet ruthless ex-MI6 agent named Damien Vex (played chillingly by Luke Evans in a surprise return as Owen Shaw’s darker twin brother).
Vex has one goal: to reset the global power structure by unleashing an AI-driven satellite weapon known as Zeus Protocol — a weapon that can control all military assets across Earth. When the CIA and MI6 find themselves overwhelmed, there’s only one solution: bring back the world’s most chaotic duo.
Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), now living a semi-retired life in Samoa with his daughter and extended family, is pulled back into action when one of the labs targeted was housing a prototype he helped secure during his DSS days. Meanwhile, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), still under watch by British Intelligence, is approached by his sister Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby), who believes their family legacy is at the heart of Vex’s motives.
Forced to work together again, Hobbs and Shaw find themselves in a race against time, traveling from the neon streets of Tokyo to the icy wilderness of Norway, and finally to a secret fortress hidden deep in the Sahara Desert.
Joining the team is Amara, a cyber expert and rogue Interpol agent played by Eiza González, who serves as both a tech genius and Shaw’s new love interest (to Hobbs’ constant amusement). Meanwhile, Hobbs reconnects with his estranged brother Jonah (Cliff Curtis), who now leads a covert Samoan resistance team with access to high-powered custom vehicles and weapons.
The banter between Hobbs and Shaw is sharper than ever. From arguing over the definition of “strategy” to trading insults during a high-speed escape in bulletproof dune buggies, their chemistry remains a highlight. Yet beneath the surface, there's growth — Hobbs wrestles with balancing fatherhood and duty, while Shaw faces guilt over secrets from his past that are directly tied to Vex.
Luke Evans' performance as Damien Vex is a masterclass in cool menace. Unlike Brixton Lore from the first film, Vex is not augmented by machines — he’s augmented by strategy, psychology, and pure hate. A ghost from Shaw’s past, he believes their entire family is corrupted and sees himself as the one to “cleanse” the legacy. With Zeus Protocol nearing activation and global defense systems beginning to fail, Vex pushes the world to the brink.
The climax takes place in a storm-lashed, tech-infested fortress in the Sahara where Vex plans to launch Zeus Protocol into orbit via a quantum rail cannon. Hobbs, Shaw, and their team storm the fortress in a sequence that includes:

But just as the credits roll, a post-credits scene reveals Cipher, the cyberterrorist from F9, watching footage of Vex’s fall and whispering, “Let the next game begin.”
