  • According to director David Yates, as of October 2023, the film has been “parked” đźš« by Warner Bros., with no active discussions ongoing about its future

  • Producer David Heyman confirmed in February 2022 that scripts for film 4 hadn’t even begun

Fantastic Beasts 4 in Doubt as Director David Yates Moves on to Pain Hustlers

  • Eddie Redmayne, who plays Newt Scamander, noted in late 2023 that The Secrets of Dumbledore "was likely the last" installment, suggesting no imminent future for part 4

  • Jude Law (Dumbledore) echoed this sentiment in October 2024, stating the franchise is "certainly on hold" and that he’s heard of no developments

  1. Commercial performance & reviews: The third film, Secrets of Dumbledore, underperformed critically and financially, leading Warner Bros. to reassess the franchise’s future .

  2. Studio pivot: With focus shifted toward an upcoming Harry Potter TV reboot, film spinoffs like Fantastic Beasts are no longer the priority .

  3. Controversy fatigue: Behind-the-scenes controversies surrounding J.K. Rowling, casting shifts, and actor missteps have diluted the brand’s momentum .

Should it eventually resume, planning would likely include:

  • A long‑anticipated duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, hinted at in Secrets

  • Return of major cast members—Redmayne, Law, Mikkelsen—to continue the arc past the rise of Grindelwald

However, with no script, no development team re-engaged, and waning studio interest, a 2025 release seems increasingly unlikely .
