The sequel picks up two years after Evelyn faked her death and disappeared. Now, she’s dragged back into the shadows when a classified AI weapon—codenamed ORACLE—is activated and used to eliminate political targets across three continents. The twist? Her voiceprint and biometric signature were used to trigger the system, making her the world’s most wanted fugitive.
To clear her name, Evelyn must infiltrate a secret task force called SIREN, run by her former mentor turned nemesis, Commander Voss (Charlize Theron). Along the way, she’s forced into an uneasy alliance with Cass Yu (Jessica Henwick), a brilliant counteragent now tasked with hunting her down, and Lucien Ward (Pedro Pascal), a rogue intelligence analyst with his own hidden agenda.
The film’s strengths lie in its sophisticated action sequences and emotional complexity. Director Kathryn Bigelow brings her signature tension-building to chase scenes through Moroccan alleyways, underwater standoffs in the Baltic Sea, and a showstopping fight aboard a spiraling cargo plane. But it’s the psychological interplay—especially between Evelyn and Cass—that gives the story its heart.
Angelina Jolie once again commands the screen. Her portrayal of Evelyn is colder, wearier, but more layered. She’s not just a weapon anymore—she’s a woman haunted by the collateral damage of her past. Jessica Henwick offers a standout performance, capturing Cass’s internal conflict as she questions everything she’s been told.
While the film raises compelling questions about surveillance, identity, and what it means to live “off the grid,” it occasionally stumbles into genre clichés. The villain’s plan is predictable in places, and a few side characters feel underused. Still, the emotional arc and stylish direction more than compensate.
The film ends on a tense cliffhanger, hinting that Evelyn may have uncovered a deeper conspiracy involving ORACLE’s true creator—and it’s someone from her presumed-dead past.
