In Black Panther 3: War of the Realms, Wakanda faces its greatest threat yet — not from another nation or a supervillain, but from a convergence of realities themselves.

Following the events of Wakanda Forever and the Multiversal conflicts in Avengers: Secret Wars, Shuri continues her reign as the Black Panther. Though Wakanda has emerged as a technological and diplomatic leader in the post-Endgame world, the borders between worlds are beginning to blur.

When a mysterious meteorite crashes into Mount Bashenga — the sacred mountain of the Panther tribe — it opens a dimensional rift. From within the rift emerges King Obatalá (John Boyega), a powerful warrior-sorcerer claiming to be the original protector of Wakanda from a forgotten realm.

Shuri (Letitia Wright) begins having visions of her ancestors, including Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), who warn her of a coming "Realm War" — an ancient battle that predates time itself. The visions point to Obatalá, who claims that the vibranium Wakanda possesses is only a fragment of a much older power that connects multiple dimensions.

M’Baku (Winston Duke), now ruling the Jabari lands with wisdom and strength, remains skeptical of Obatalá’s arrival. But when dimensional tears begin appearing across the African continent — unleashing strange creatures, time loops, and chaos — it becomes clear that something larger is at stake.

Obatalá reveals his true purpose: he was imprisoned in a fractured dimension thousands of years ago after defying the gods of an ancient multiverse. The vibranium crash centuries ago was not an accident, but an attempt to destroy the gateway to his realm. Now free, he seeks to restore the “True Wakanda”, a realm-spanning empire that existed before the MCU’s timeline began.

Meanwhile, Riri Williams/Ironheart (Dominique Thorne) arrives in Wakanda to help Shuri analyze the rift using Stark-tech and Wakandan science. Together, they discover that Obatalá’s dimension is absorbing energy from others, causing multiversal instability. If left unchecked, Earth-616 (the MCU's main timeline) could collapse.

With help from Namor (Tenoch Huerta), who warns that rifts have started appearing in Talokan’s deep-sea temples, Shuri forms an uneasy alliance. The surface and sea kingdoms must now fight side by side.

Obatalá launches an attack on the central vibranium mines, aiming to use them as a beacon to pull his empire fully into Earth’s dimension. Shuri dons a new Black Panther suit fused with quantum energy and ancestral tech — merging tradition with the future.

A massive battle ensues in the Valley of Kings, where Dora Milaje warriors, Jabari tribesmen, Talokanil fighters, and Ironheart’s drones face off against interdimensional beasts and Obatalá’s elite guard: beings who can bend time, phase through matter, and mimic the powers of Wakanda’s past kings.

In the climactic moment, Shuri is nearly defeated by Obatalá until she connects to the ancestral plane one last time. There, she meets T’Challa (seen briefly in spirit form), who tells her

“Wakanda was never just about land or power. It was always about the people... and the choices we make to protect them.”

Empowered by her ancestors and her people’s unity, Shuri turns the tide using a vibranium-based neural disruptor designed by Riri — severing Obatalá’s connection to the multiverse.

Obatalá, now weakened, realizes Wakanda’s strength lies not in conquest but in legacy. In a moment of clarity, he chooses self-exile, returning to his realm and sealing the rift behind him.

Peace returns, but Wakanda is forever changed. Shuri passes leadership of the council to M’Baku, while she steps into a global role as both scientist and protector.

Riri returns to MIT to refine her tech, hinting at her upcoming battles. Namor and Shuri share a quiet moment of mutual respect.

In a post-credits scene, we see a secret chamber where ancient Wakandan scrolls speak of "The Celestial Flame", suggesting the next threat may not come from Earth… but from beyond the stars.
